A third row that is not an apology
Most seven-seaters treat the back row as occasional. The GLS gives it real legroom, its own air vents and USB power, and electric folding so the boot floor goes flat without anyone climbing in to wrestle a catch.
With five seats up there is room for four large cases behind them. With seven up you still have space for soft bags — which, on a week in Lapland with snow gear for everyone, is the number that decides whether you need one car or two.
Why we meet you at Rovaniemi
Helsinki to Rovaniemi is a full day's drive, and no holiday should start with it. Fly north and the car meets you at Rovaniemi or Kittilä with the cabin already warm, the tyres already right, and the racks already fitted.
Child seats in the correct sizes are fitted before delivery at no charge. Send ages and weights when you book.
Tyres, reindeer and the private road
Winter tyres are a legal requirement in the Finnish winter and are fitted from October to April at no cost, with studded tyres available on request for the northern resorts.
North of the Arctic Circle, watch for reindeer at dusk — they travel in groups, and where there is one there are usually several behind it. We brief every guest heading north on this at handover, because it is the single most common cause of trouble for visiting drivers.
Renting the GLS in Finland
Can the GLS be delivered in Rovaniemi or Levi?
Yes, both are regular delivery points. We meet you at the airport with the car warm and ready rather than having you drive north from Helsinki.
Does it really seat seven adults?
Yes. The third row has proper legroom, its own vents and power outlets. For seven adults plus full winter luggage, ask about the Escalade in Sweden as well.
Are child seats included?
Yes, at no charge. Send the children's ages and weights with the booking and they are fitted before delivery.
Can I get studded tyres for a Finnish winter?
On request through the winter months. Standard winter tyres are fitted automatically from October to April, as Finnish law requires.
Is the GLS suitable for a lodge at the end of a private road?
In most conditions yes. Give us the location and we will confirm access before you book — and if the road is genuinely difficult, we will recommend the G-Class instead.
